The Israeli attack on Beirut’s Southern Suburb has sparked widespread condemnation from both Lebanese officials and regional actors, with renewed calls for the international community to hold "Israel" accountable and pressure it to halt its repeated aggressions against Lebanon.
Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli occupation launched an airstrike targeting the fourth and fifth floors of a ten-story residential building on al-Areed Street in Haret Hreik, an area in Beirut’s southern suburb.
According to Lebanon's Ministry of Health, five people were martyred and 28 others were wounded in the final toll of the attack.

President Aoun: 'Israel' disregards international appeals
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the strike in an official statement, describing the attack, carried out one day after Lebanon’s Independence Day, as "further proof that Israel pays no heed to repeated international calls to cease its hostilities against Lebanon."
He stressed that "Israel continues to reject the implementation of UN resolutions and other diplomatic efforts aimed at curbing escalation and restoring stability, not just to Lebanon, but to the entire region."
Aoun noted that "Lebanon has upheld the cessation of hostilities for nearly a year and has consistently proposed peaceful initiatives." He urged the international community to act decisively to prevent further deterioration, warning that continued aggression could reignite regional tensions and lead to more bloodshed.

Prime Minister: National unity essential to prevent dangerous escalation
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stressed that the attack on Beirut's southern suburb requires unifying all efforts behind the state and its institutions.
He affirmed that "protecting the Lebanese people and preventing the country from sliding into dangerous paths is the government's top priority at this critical juncture." He added that the government will "continue working through all political and diplomatic means with brotherly and friendly nations to safeguard the Lebanese people, prevent open-ended escalation, and ensure the cessation of Israeli aggression, the withdrawal from our land, and the return of our prisoners."
Salam claimed that experience has proven the only path to sustainable stability is the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701, the extension of state authority across all Lebanese territory through its own institutions, and the empowerment of the Lebanese Army to carry out its duties.

Lebanese voices unite in condemnation
Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Lebanese Parliamentarian Melhem Khalaf described the airstrike as a "blatant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and a serious breach of international humanitarian law," emphasizing that "targeting a residential area is unlawful and amounts to a war crime."
Also speaking to Al Mayadeen, MP Elias Jradeh echoed the sentiment, stressing the need for a unified national stance: "Any confrontation must be driven by a shared Lebanese vision and purpose," he said. "If confrontation is necessary, so be it. We want peace, not surrender, but the occupation is violating every human value."

Stances of political parties
Talal Hatoum, member of the political bureau of the Amal Movement, emphasized that "what is required today is solidarity in the face of Israel's ongoing escalation."
He added that the attack holds multiple dimensions, saying: "It comes as a response to the initiative launched by the President of the Republic from South Lebanon, where he announced a five-point proposal to end the aggressions, recover the prisoners, and secure the withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories."
The Secretary-General of the Lebanese Communist Party, Hanna Gharib, told Al Mayadeen that the strike was "an attack not only on the southern suburb, but on Lebanon’s very existence and identity."
He called on the Lebanese state to take full responsibility in the face of what he described as a threat to all citizens, urging the rejection of sectarian rhetoric in favor of a national response. Gharib additionally praised those resisting both the aggression and divisive sectarian discourse, calling for a unified national project to confront the occupation.

Regional, global condemnations of the aggression
The Iranian Embassy in Beirut issued a statement denouncing the strike, saying, "The criminal attacks have now extended to the southern suburb, in yet another act by the terrorist 'Israeli' entity that does not hesitate to threaten the safety of the Lebanese people."
Despite the attack, the statement affirmed that "these cowardly strikes will not break the resolve of those who stand for justice, nor will they weaken their unwavering will to resist oppression."
In a call with Al Mayadeen, Ali Abu Shahin, a member of the political bureau of Hamas, labelled the attack "a deliberate act of aggression and a grave crime against Lebanon and its sovereignty," emphasizing that it "constitutes a blatant violation of the declared ceasefire." He asserted that “the international community bears direct responsibility, as it continues to provide cover for the occupation unless it steps in to restrain it.”
In a statement, Palestinian Islamic Jihad described the Israeli airstrike on Beirut's Southern Suburb as "a dangerous escalation in the continued aggression against the Lebanese people," affirming that the Palestinian people stand firmly in solidarity with "their Lebanese brothers and sisters."
Likewise, Secretary-General of the Tunisian Popular Current Party, Zouhair Hamdi, condemned the attack during an interview with Al Mayadeen, stressing that "this aggression will neither shake the resistance nor deter it from its position."
