Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem praised the Islamic Republic of Iran on Thursday as a global model of steadfastness and moral leadership, hailing its unwavering support for the oppressed and its leading role in the Palestinian liberation struggle.
In a public statement, Sheikh Qassem described Iran as a “leading humanitarian model for the world’s free peoples,” emphasising that under the leadership of Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the country has long resisted the ambitions of hegemonic powers, spearheaded by the United States.
“The tyrants and imperialists could not accept Iran’s resilience for 46 years in the face of blockade and aggression,” Sheikh Qassem stated.
"The tyrannical America and the criminal "Israel" will not be able to subjugate the Iranian people and the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps," he added.
He highlighted the Islamic Republic’s ability to develop politically, economically, scientifically, and militarily through internal strength and unity between the people and leadership.
US-Israeli pretexts 'flimsy, baseless'
Hezbollah's Secretary-General dismissed the Israeli occupation’s justification for its ongoing aggression against Iran, particularly claims tied to Tehran’s nuclear program, calling it a deliberate fabrication backed by Washington.
“A flimsy excuse orchestrated by the US and supported by global tyrants,” he said.
“Iran’s peaceful uranium enrichment program is a right protected under international law and by the IAEA. It causes no harm to anyone. What the aggressors really fear is Iran’s scientific progress and its ability to lead the region independently of foreign domination,” Sheikh Naim Qassem stressed.
He also condemned recent remarks by the US President Donald Trump, including threats directed at Sayyed Khamenei, warning that such rhetoric had global implications.
“This is not just about Iran. The American threats target the entire region and all the free peoples around the world,” he said, warning that any escalation by Washington would lead to widespread chaos in the Middle East and fuel further global instability.
“What America will ultimately gain is nothing but disgrace and failure,” Sheikh Qassem tersely stated.
He made it clear that "America is leading the region into chaos and instability and dragging the world into open crises."
'We will act as we see fit in confronting this aggression'
Declaring Hezbollah’s firm support for the Islamic Republic, the Secretary-General reiterated the movement’s alignment with Iran in the face of what he called US-Israeli aggression.
"We can never be neutral when it comes to Iran's legitimate rights and independence vs. the falsehood of America and its aggression," he emphasised.
"We stand with Iran, its leadership, and its people, and we will act as we see fit in confronting this aggression," Sheikh Qassem declared.
He also called on all the free peoples, movements, and institutions to stand in solidarity with Iran.
“Free people, the oppressed, Resistance fighters, scholars, and principled thinkers must rise in support of the Iranian leadership and people,” he said.
Furthermore, Sheikh Naim Qassem vowed to stand "with Iran in confronting this global injustice because we support our independence, the liberation of our land, and our free decisions and choices."
He further pointed to what he described as “unprecedented Israeli losses since the 1948 occupation of Palestine” and Tel Aviv’s desperation for a deeper US role.
Concluding his remarks, Hezbollah's Secretary General expressed confidence in Iran’s strength and the resilience of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), declaring that the Israeli occupation’s attacks had only reinforced Iran’s standing.
