The scope for understanding with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun is “broad and promising,” noted the head of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc, MP Mohammad Raad.
Following a visit to Aoun at the Baabda Palace on Monday, Raad stated that Hezbollah “does not feel bound by any particular timetable, venue, or method, as long as matters are being carefully handled by Aoun.”
He emphasized that “there are no closed doors" to the exchange of dialogue and ideas with the Lebanese President at any level, adding that those doors will remain open.
Key issues discussed at Baabda Palace
Regarding the meeting itself, the Lebanese lawmaker said that “there was an exchange of views on challenges and priorities, foremost among them preserving national sovereignty, ending the [Israeli] occupation, halting aggression and violations supported by some of the countries that are guarantors of the ceasefire agreement.”
Raad also noted that the discussion addressed the issue of reconstruction and underscored the importance of maintaining stability and liberating institutions “through adherence to constitutional entitlements, as was recently demonstrated in the municipal and local elections.”
He added, “There is no doubt that everything is interconnected, as after all, the world has become a small village."
"But when it comes to action, each country has its own authority, sovereignty, and representatives who know what serves its interests.”
Raad extended his congratulations to all Lebanese on the occasion of Resistance and Liberation Day, stressing that this is a celebration of both “resistance and liberation, not just liberation, because it was the resistance that achieved the liberation.”
Resistance will not yield to Israeli, US pressures: Sheikh Qassem
In a related speech delivered Sunday on the same occasion, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem asserted that the Resistance endures, proving itself as “the path to liberation,” while also “putting an end to Israel’s expansionist ambitions and its ability to seize parts of Lebanon.”
Sheikh Qassem stressed that US pressure on Lebanese officials “will not bring about the realization of Israeli demands, regardless of the sacrifices involved,” stressing that such pressure “constitutes an overreach and an infringement on Lebanon’s sovereignty.”
He addressed Washington, stating, "You will not achieve what you failed to accomplish through war. These conditions will never be met, no matter the sacrifices or the cost of confrontation."
The Hezbollah chief affirmed that the Lebanese state bears the responsibility for implementing the ceasefire, emphasizing that “other options remain with the Resistance should the state fail to fulfill its duty.”
