IOF attack fishermen in Gaza and sink a boat
Military IOF vessels open fire on a Palestinian fishing boat in the Gaza Strip sea.
IOF military vessels attacked Palestinian fishermen in the sea of the Gaza Strip on Saturday, August 27, according to Gaza's fishermen union.
The fishermen union in Gaza said the IOF navy opened fire on Palestinian fishing boats in the northern and southern seas of the Gaza Strip, resulting in one boat sinking west of Rafah's port.
Palestinian fishermen are exposed to attacks by the IOF on a daily basis. While the IOF often open fire on Palestinian fishermen, other times, they arrest them or damage their equipment in an attempt to further tighten the Israeli blockade on Gaza. The latest was at the beginning of this August when the IOF opened fire on Palestinian fishermen's boats north of the Strip.
In July, the fishermen's union in the Gaza Strip said the IOF opened fire extensively on a fishing boat, which set it ablaze, with no injuries reported.
Palestinian fishermen in Gaza complain that "Israel" continues to impose strict restrictions on them and across the Gaza sea as part of its blockade of the Strip, which was enforced in mid-2007.
