IOF detained 11,000+ Palestinians from West Bank since Oct 7
The Palestinian Prisoners Society details the extreme violations imposed on detainees before they are arrested and after they are released.
The Israeli occupation forces detained 45 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank in the past 24 hours after launching an extensive arrest campaign across its towns and cities.
In a joint statement, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) and the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission revealed that over 11,000 Palestinians have been arrested since the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza was initiated on October 7, 2023.
The report also emphasized the detention of many Palestinian workers and thousands from Gaza, with many individuals still missing due to ongoing enforced disappearances.
The organizations pointed out that these ongoing detention campaigns have been marked by incidents of extrajudicial killings, gunfire opened on individuals before arrests, severe physical abuse, and intense field interrogations. The IOF also unleash police dogs against detainees or use them as human shields and hostages during the arrest campaigns.
Extensive damage to homes, as well as the seizure of property, vehicles, money, gold, and electronic devices, has been reported, along with the demolition and destruction of homes belonging to detainees.
These detentions are part of a wider military campaign against the Palestinian population. The data concerning these detentions encompass both individuals currently detained and those released later, highlighting the scale and consequences of the ongoing crackdown.
Another Palestinian dies in Israeli prison two days after IOF detention
A young Palestinian man, Walid Ahmad Khalifa, died in an Israeli detention center two days after being shot and detained by Israeli forces during a raid on his family home in the al-Ain refugee camp, Nablus, located in the occupied West Bank
The Commission of Detainees' and Ex-Detainees' Affairs, along with the Palestinian Prisoners Society, confirmed the 30-year-old's death in a joint statement on Saturday.
Khalifa was reportedly shot when Israeli occupation forces stormed his home last Thursday, and his family witnessed him being carried away on a stretcher as he called out for them. They noted that Khalifa remained conscious and aware throughout the ordeal.
His family, however, has now lost two sons to Israeli forces—Walid's brother, Amir, was assassinated in August 2023, while another brother, Khaled, is currently held under administrative detention, meaning he was never tried nor charged for any crime.
