Israeli media reported Sunday that an Israeli occupation soldier was killed and two others were wounded in a shooting attack that targeted the Shuafat military checkpoint in occupied Al-Quds.

The Israeli media outlets detailed that a speeding car approached the Shuafat camp checkpoint the passengers opened fire at the soldiers stationed at the place, wounding two Israeli soldiers and killing one. The car managed to exit the shooting site, and a search operation in pursuit of the shooters is underway.

Israeli media cited military sources as saying that there were security concerns that the shooters would carry out other operations in occupied Al-Quds, adding that the occupation police announced a state of high alert.

In retaliation, Israeli occupation police closed the gates leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque and all the entrances and exits to the Shuafat camp.

Al Mayadeen correspondent reported that IOF search operations are underway in pursuit of the shooters, and Palestinian youths threw stones at the occupation checkpoint.

According to our correspondent, angry Palestinian youths smashed an Israeli settler's vehicle with stones near the village of Rantis in Ramallah.

Israeli occupation forces also stormed the Shuafat refugee camp in the wake of the shooting, and confrontations erupted, during which rubber bullets and tear gas canisters were fired at Palestinian youths.
