Iran announces special initiatives, US should take political decision
With Tehran offering exceptional ideas and offers, according to its spokesperson, the least to expect from Washington is making a political decision, which has prevented an agreement so far.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said that during the recent visit of the European Union's Iran nuclear talks coordinator Enrique Mora to Iran, Tehran offered exceptional ideas and offers, and Washington should make a political decision.
Saeed Khatibzadeh made the statements during his weekly press conference in Tehran this morning.
Concerning Mora's visit to Tehran as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action coordinator, the Spokesperson stated that whenever an idea for dialogue is formed, the Israeli entity takes action against it, which is not something new.
Iranian top negotiator, Ali Bagheri Kani, and Mora met in the Iranian capital on Wednesday. Mora had stated before his arrival in Tehran late Tuesday that "work on closing the remaining gaps of this negotiation continues."

As Khatibzadeh stated, Mora visited Iran with a clear goal; if the US reveals its political decision, a major step in this regard can be done.
The Islamic Republic has always sought its genuine rights, he said, emphasizing the importance of removing the maximal pressures imposed by former US President Donald Trump.
Trump unilaterally exited the July 2015 nuclear deal, called JCPOA, in May 2018 and applied the highest level of sanctions against Iran in November of the same year.
Concerning Russia's role in the Vienna discussions, Khatibzadeh stated that Moscow's role was positive; however, the fighting in Kiev may darken Moscow's function as a mediator in the negotiations.
Afghanistan must maintain security
Regarding recent developments in neighboring Afghanistan, the Spokesperson stated that the ruling authority in Afghanistan is responsible for maintaining security and not allowing terrorist groups to pose a threat to the neighbors.
In another context, the Spokesperson discussed the issue of an Iranian diplomat, Assadollah Assadi, who was kidnapped in Belgium and is being held in deplorable and inhumane conditions.
It is regretful that European Union countries violate diplomatic rights, said the official, adding that Iran has been following up on the case since it considers the entire operation of arresting, holding court sessions, and delivering a judgment invalid.

Regarding the upcoming visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to express condolences over the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, who died at the age of 73, Khatibzadeh expressed hope for a better future for the Gulf regional country.
The United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on the harmful impact of unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights, Alena Douhan, is currently in Iran, according to the Spokesperson.
At the end of his remarks, Khatibzadeh referred to the parliamentary election in Lebanon and said the Lebanese people are the ones who decide for their country, adding that other countries should respect that.
Iran has never tried to interfere in Lebanon’s internal affairs, Khatibzadeh stated. “Islamic Republic of Iran, too, respects Lebanese people’s decision.”
