Iran blames West's double standards as root cause of war, massacres
Pezeshkian aims to spread the “message regarding peace and security” at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly while voicing Iran's “right-seeking and pursuit of justice" amid the ongoing Israeli aggression in the region.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian criticized Western double standards on Monday, claiming they are the result of global bloodshed and warfare.
“Instead of bloodshed, war, and massacres, we should build a world in which all humans can live comfortably, notwithstanding their color, race, ethnicity, and the region where they live,” he said upon his arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
“And unfortunately, the world we are currently living in is not like that. There are some double standards,” Pezekshian noted.
The ongoing Israeli aggression in the Middle East
The president's statements come amid the United States and several Western nation's military and political support for "Israel" in the ongoing genocide in Gaza, as well as the occupation's aggression in the West Bank, Lebanon, and other countries in the region.
Pezeshkian stated that he would convey Iran's “message regarding peace and security” while in New York, where he is expected to address the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
He added that the message is similar to “the slogan that has been adopted by the United Nations this year too."
The president was referring to this year's summit theme of "Leaving no one behind: Acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations.”
Before leaving for New York, Pezeshkian hoped to express the “voice of our country’s people as well as the voice of [those who are in favor of] right-seeking and pursuit of justice.”
I will be the voice of Palestinians, Lebanese at UNGA: Araghchi
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sent a message to Hezbollah's Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Saturday, expressing his condolences for the martyrdom of martyred leader Ibrahim Aqil and several of his fellow freedom fighters.
Araghchi emphasized his duty to serve as the voice of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples at the United Nations General Assembly, condemning the crimes of the Zionist entity, which has begun to commit some of the most heinous acts of terrorism and genocide during its recent assaults.
He added that the occupation "has once again demonstrated its disregard for any moral or legal standards, pursuing its malicious goals even at the cost of jeopardizing the security of the region and the world."
Araghchi stressed that the struggle and resistance until the liberation of the Palestinian people from the occupation will continue with greater strength, pointing out that "this is thanks to the sacrifices of the Resistance fighters of the Resistance Front in Palestine and Lebanon and throughout the region."
