Iranian authorities have executed a man convicted of spying for the Zionist regime’s Mossad intelligence agency, as tensions remain high following the outset of Israeli aggression against Iran on July 13.
The man, identified as Majid Mosayyebi, was hanged on Sunday in the central city of Isfahan.
The Islamic Revolution’s Court found that he had collaborated with enemy agents and committed espionage against the Islamic Republic.
According to Iranian officials, Mosayyebi had maintained regular contact with a Mossad agent named David in a Gulf littoral country. He reportedly transmitted sensitive information on key Iranian locations and individuals in exchange for cryptocurrency payments.
Security sources said the information he provided included classified intelligence critical to national defense, though specific targets were not publicly identified.
This execution comes amid an Iranian crackdown on espionage networks. Since the outbreak of the Israeli war of aggression on June 13, Iranian security forces have reportedly detained dozens of individuals suspected of collaborating with foreign intelligence services.
Judiciary Chief Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei has instructed judicial branches across the country to expedite espionage cases and avoid procedural delays.
Iranian spy networks, an ongoing threat
Late last April, Iran’s Judiciary announced the execution of Mohsen Langarneshin, who was convicted of espionage on behalf of the Israeli Mossad intelligence agency.
Langarneshin was found guilty of collaborating with Mossad and providing both operational and technical support in the 2022 assassination of Colonel Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, a member of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).
The executions follow a February announcement by the commander of Iran’s Karbala Regional Corps, Brigadier General Siavash Moslemi, who revealed the dismantling of Israeli-American spy networks in Mazandaran Province.
Speaking to Tasnim News Agency at the time, the IRGC commander said these networks operate under the cover of commercial, cultural, and charitable groups.
He explained at the time that these units frequently relied on foreign nationals or individuals who regularly travel to Iran as a means of infiltration. The goal, he added, was not only intelligence gathering but also the establishment of sabotage and terror cells intended to destabilize the Islamic Republic.
