The Axis of Resistance is determined to change the rules of conflict and impose a new equation of deterrence, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Friday.

Amir-Abdollahian on Wednesday arrived in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, after concluding his visit to Oman, on an official visit in which he discussed with Lebanese officials the latest developments in the region.

The visit to Beirut, Amir-Abdollahian said, came as a way for Iran to announce its "unwavering support for the people, the army, and the Resistance in Lebanon."

During a press conference at the Iranian embassy in Lebanon, Amir-Abdollahian said his country has prioritized openness and communication with the regional states in general, and neighboring states in particular.

The Iranian foreign minister underlined that the latest developments in the region generalize a feeling of positivity, adding that Lebanon is of high influence in the region.

"Lebanon is on the frontline of confrontation and resistance, and Tehran pays close attention to it," he added.

He concluded that throughout the meetings he had with Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziyad Al-Nakahlah, that the Axis of Resistance is determined to turn the tables against the Israeli occupation.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his accompanying delegation met on Friday with Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in the presence of Mojtaba Amani, the Iranian Ambassador to Beirut.

Sayyed Nasrallah and Amir-Abdollahian discussed the latest regional developments, especially the Iranian-Saudi agreement and its repercussions on countries of the region, as well as the latest developments in Lebanon and occupied Palestine.

Moreover, During a visit to the south Lebanese village of Maroun El Ras, the Iranian top diplomat underlined that Tehran supports the Lebanese resistance in the face of the Israeli occupation.

Iran-Saudi rapprochement in interest of entire region

Talking about Saudi-Iranian ties, Amir-Abdollahian highlighted that the rapprochement between Riyadh and Tehran "is not solely in the interest of the two countries, but in that of the entire region."

Moreover, he stressed that dialogue between the two states bore good repercussions for the region and Lebanon.

He added that before Eid al-Fitr, he extended an official invitation to his Saudi counterpart to visit Tehran, stressing that the latter welcomed the invitation and that he would accept it.

The top diplomat revealed that he had also received an official invitation from the Saudi Foreign Minister to visit Saudi Arabia, stressing that he had accepted it.

He revealed that in conjunction with the Saudi-Iranian rapprochement, talks have kicked off between Damascus and Riyadh, noting that a milestone agreement was reached between them regarding the restoration of relations between them.

Amid-Abdollahian also lauded the "important and positive role" of Oman and Iraq in communication between Iran and Saudi Arabia, which ultimately led to the aforementioned rapprochement.

He touched on the Lebanese presidential vacuum, saying that he hoped to see a groundbreaking achievement regarding the presidency, stressing that Iran "never did nor will intervene in the electoral process in Lebanon, and Tehran will support any agreed-upon figure."

The Lebanese should decide for themselves to elect a president for the republic, which is an internal Lebanese affair, he stressed.

President Raisi to visit Syria soon

The Iranian foreign minister also touched on the relations between Tehran and Damascus, stressing that they are "excellent, deep, and strategic", welcoming the strengthening of relations between Syria, the Arab world, and the regional states.

The top diplomat stressed that President Al-Assad, the government, the army, and the people stood against the terrorist war and eventually won, stressing that the military advisors of the Islamic Republic helped Syria confront the terrorist war waged against it.

He also talked about developing a plan for the Iranian president's visit to Syria in the coming period.

The status quo proves that seeking Syria's collapse was met with failure, and the Zionist lobby was behind these conspiracies, he added.

Iran opposes presence of foreign forces

Amir-Abdollahian touched on the latest developments regarding the exchange of prisoners with the United States and said that his country had agreed with the United States 13 months ago on the exchange of prisoners and that they had named a British diplomat as their representative.

Iran "did not have any restrictions or time limits" to implement the exchange agreement, he said, noting that "due to some American remarks, it was postponed for several months."

The Iranian top diplomat underlined Tehran's opposition to the presence of foreign forces, especially military bases, in the region, stressing that the region was undergoing new and rapid developments in the international system.
