Iran interested in joint space missions with Moscow
Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan told Sputnik that Iran is counting on Russia's potential in space.
According to Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan in an interview with Sputnik, Tehran is interested in collaborative space projects with Moscow and believes in Russia's capabilities in this field.
The ambassador said that "As for cooperation in space exploration, Iran is showing interest in implementing joint projects, counting on the potential of Russia as a leading space power."
The diplomat noted that such collaboration is conceivable, but only if Russia strictly adheres to its international duties under current nonproliferation regimes.
Dzhagaryan divulged to Sputnik that Tehran has submitted a number of suggestions to Moscow to deepen cooperation in the energy industry.
Last month, Tehran offered to Moscow a transfer of liquefied gas supplies from Russia to the south of Iran for onward sale to anywhere in the globe. The envoy said that the co-chairs of the intergovernmental panel met separately during the visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Moscow in January.
According to Dzhagaryan, during the meeting, Iran presented "a number of proposals for expanding trade and economic cooperation, including in the energy sector. The proposals are taken into consideration by the Russian specialized departments."
Moscow anticipates that the recommendations will be included in the final and possible bilateral agreements between the two during intergovernmental commission meetings expected in Russia this year.
