Iran MFA: US airstrikes on Iraq-Syria-Yemen only serve 'Israel'
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson warns that the continuation of US aggression threatens peace and security regionally and internationally.
Today, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani stated that US airstrikes on Iraq and Syria are aimed at fulfilling "Israel's" goals only, as the continuation of such actions threatens peace and security at both regional and international levels.
The United States alleged in the early morning hours of Saturday that it had hit over 85 targets linked to the IRGC and its affiliated forces in Iraq and Syria responding to the recent attack on a US military base in Jordan.
In the ministry's statement on Telegram, Kanaani stressed that "US military strikes against Iraq, Syria, and Yemen only ensure the achievement of the Israeli regime's goals," adding that "such attacks involve the US government in the regional [conflict] more than earlier and overshadow the crimes of the Israeli regime in the Gaza Strip."
He further emphasized, "The continuation of such incidents poses a threat to peace and security at the regional and international level."
He further highlighted the responsibility of the international community and the UN Security Council for preventing "illegal and unilateral US strikes on the region and the escalation of the crisis," according to the statement.
US strikes Syria, Iraq
US airstrikes targeted military sites near Ain Ali, south of the city of al-Mayadin in the countryside of Deir Ezzor, Syria, and said they bombed the Deir Ezzor airport in the country's east.
Iraqi government sources later announced that 16 were killed in the US attacks on Iraqi soil.
CENTCOM revealed that US forces struck more than 85 targets in Iraq and Syria with numerous aircraft, including long-range bombers that were said to have taken off from the United States.
