Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Raphael Grossi, are set to meet on Tuesday under the mediation of Egypt to finalize a mechanism for implementing guarantees to resume cooperation, sources told Al Mayadeen.
As per the agreement, Iran is required to submit a report on its uranium stockpile within a month of signing the agreement, after which new talks would begin with the aim of verifying the inspection mechanism, with the current framework under discussion including the number and jurisdiction of IAEA inspectors in Iran, the sources further revealed. Additionally, Tehran has demanded a condemnation of the attacks on its nuclear facilities at the next meeting of the IAEA's Board of Governors.
Moreover, Iran expressed its stance that the Russian draft resolution to extend Resolution 2231 could open clearer prospects for talks.
Among the demands made by the E3 for the sake of extending the snapback mechanism for six months were identifying the uranium stockpile Iran currently has, the resumption of full cooperation between the IAEA and Iran, and holding direct talks between Tehran and Washington.
However, Iran asserted that access to its uranium stockpiles is not possible, stressing that talks will not take place unless it receives guarantees that no future attacks will be carried out against the country.

During his visit to Cairo, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to review bilateral and regional developments, discussing the process of improving bilateral relations and emphasizing the strengthening of ties in mutual areas of interest, such as economic, trade, tourism, and cultural fields.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the ongoing crisis in Gaza, focusing on the severe humanitarian situation, the urgent need for aid to reach the people, and the importance of stopping the war crimes and preventing the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land.
The two ministers also discussed Iran's nuclear issue, with the Iranian Foreign Minister outlining Iran's principled position of defending its rights and interests under the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
He described the illegal attacks by the United States and the Israeli occupation as a deadly blow to the principles of the UN Charter and international law, reminding the International Atomic Energy Agency of its responsibilities to protect the rights of its member states.
The Egyptian foreign minister stressed the right of all NPT member states to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, praised the responsible approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this regard, and expressed Egypt's readiness to facilitate interactions between Iran and the agency.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Cairo earlier today at the head of a diplomatic delegation to meet with senior Egyptian officials and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to finalize discussions on a new framework for cooperation between the nuclear watchdog and Tehran.
