Iran urges immediate ceasefire in Gaza
During a meeting with the head of the UN's humanitarian operations, Martin Griffiths, Iran's Foreign Minister said that the Israeli attacks on Gazans only escalate the costs for Washington as an ally of "Tel Aviv".
Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has urged an immediate cessation of the brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza, emphasizing that "Israel" has no possibility of winning the war.
During a meeting with the head of UN humanitarian operations in Geneva, Martin Griffiths, on Wednesday, Amir-Abdollahian stated that the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people in Gaza only escalate the costs for Washington as an ally of "Tel Aviv".
“Unfortunately, the scope of the Zionist regime’s attacks on Gaza is expanding, and it is necessary to take immediate and effective measures to stop them,” he said.
“There is no chance for the Zionist regime to win the war, and it will only increase the costs for the US government as the biggest supporter of the Zionist regime that is responsible for the continuation of the aggression. As a result, it is necessary to focus efforts on a ceasefire and an immediate halt to the war,” he added.
'US bombs used against oppressed Palestinians in Gaza'
Iran's Foreign Minister expressed regret regarding Washington's position in support of "Israel", stating, "Regrettably, the US routinely supplies various weapons, including phosphorous and prohibited weapons, to Tel Aviv, either from Cyprus or directly through its bases across the region, and these bombs are used against the oppressed Palestinians in Gaza."
The Iranian official further noted that the quantity of humanitarian aid dispatched to Gaza is significantly less than what the Americans assert.
He urged the United Nations to take decisive and immediate action to facilitate the opening of the Rafah border crossing for the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
He added that the UN can rely on Iran's capability to establish peace and security in the region. Regarding his discussions in Doha with Qatari and Hamas officials, Amir-Abdollahian mentioned that the Palestinian Resistance movement is prepared to take action concerning the Israeli captives held by the Resistance since the October 7 operation.
“If the Israeli regime stops the genocide in Gaza, Resistance groups will also stop counterattacks,” he noted.
For his part, the UN humanitarian chief expressed contentment with the meeting and elaborated on the UN's humanitarian endeavors in Gaza. He emphasized the necessity of resolving the matter of Israeli captives and ensuring essential requirements, particularly fuel, for the people in Gaza.
Griffiths also expressed apprehensions about the dire situation within al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, which has become a tragedy amid Israeli military incursion.
He commended Iran's endeavors to curb the escalation of the war and emphasized the necessity for additional measures to halt the war and alleviate the current alarming situation in Gaza.
Only in Gaza: A hospital is turned into a military outpost
It is worth noting that the Israeli invading forces are currently raiding al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, the largest medical complex in the Strip, which is currently providing shelter for 10 thousand Palestinians. The Israeli incursion has instilled fear among patients, displaced individuals, and health workers, with Dr. Ahmed El Mokhallalati, present at al-Shifa Hospital, reporting that Israeli gunfire has compelled medical staff to avoid windows for their safety.
Simultaneously, Gaza’s government media office has issued a warning of a potential massacre at the hospital following the Israeli army's incursion into the medical complex. The office condemned Israeli actions, labeling them "a war crime and a crime against humanity," and held "Israel", the US, and the international community "fully responsible for the safety of thousands of people inside the facility."
