During a meeting in Tehran with the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei indicated on Monday that both Iran and Oman will benefit from closer bilateral cooperation, as per state-run news agency IRNA.

"We believe that the expansion of bilateral relations in all fields benefits both sides," said Sayyed Khamenei, pointing out that "increasing Iran-Oman cooperation is significant because the two countries share the very important Strait of Hormuz waterway."

Touching on talks between officials from the two countries, the Iranian leader stressed that the negotiations should be followed up seriously until they produce tangible results.

Sayyed Khamenei called on regional countries to be well aware of the policies of the Israeli occupation and its supporters that aim to fuel disagreements in the region and destabilize regional security.

Reacting to bin Tariq's comments on Egypt's willingness to restore ties with Iran, Sayyed Khamenei expressed, "We welcome this position and have no problem in this regard."

"These issues are the outcome of the Raeisi government’s good policy to develop and strengthen relations with neighbors and regional states," he said regarding the Omani Sultan’s satisfaction with the restoration of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

On Sunday, bin Tariq arrived in Tehran at the head of a high-ranking delegation at the invitation of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

On the same day, both sides signed four documents to boost cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, and energy sectors.

From simple trade to cooperation on investment projects

In the same context, Raisi highlighted on Sunday that the two nations have enhanced their cooperation from a level of simple trade to cooperation on investment projects.

The leaders of the two nations' similar perspectives and approach to regional convergence, along with appropriate capacities, can expand bilateral and regional collaboration, pointed out the Iranian President during a joint meeting between high-ranking Iranian officials and their Omani counterparts.

According to officials from both nations, the visit will pave the way for new channels of diplomatic collaboration and set the platform for more communication and engagement at the highest levels.

In a joint press conference with his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Amir-Abdollahian highlighted that "Oman's role in regional and international issues has always been constructive."

"After the signing of 13 documents in Muscat, we witness a doubling of the volume of trade between the two countries," the top Iranian diplomat indicated.

On his part, Albusaidi affirmed that bin Tariq's current visit to Iran will usher in a new era in bilateral ties between the two nations.
