On his part, Saudi foreign minister Faisal bin Farhan held a press conference after the Jeddah Summit during which he said the Kingdom’s hand is extended to Iran, stating that the Iran-Saudi talks, which were hosted by Iraq have been positive, but have yet to achieve tangible results.

Last month, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as part of a regional visit that also included a visit to Iran as part of Baghdad's efforts to bridge Tehran and Riyadh's viewpoints.

Iraqi sources told Al Mayadeen that the meetings in Riyadh and Tehran are to discuss important files regarding Iraqi mediation to open diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, noting that the meetings in Riyadh and Tehran have brought forward positive effects for Iraq, especially regarding strengthening regional partnership and cooperation.
