Following Saturday’s Iranian missile strike on Rishon LeZion, which left two settlers dead, new details published by Maariv reveal that the missile landed just 250 meters from the home of a former senior official in the Israeli security establishment.
The former official, who once led a central security organization, currently serves as the CEO of one of "Israel’s" major energy companies and is considered a prominent public figure.
In this context, Maariv reported that the Shin Bet uncovered 22 cases of Iranian espionage within "Israel" over the past year. These included the recruitment of Israelis for intelligence missions on behalf of the Iranian government.
In several documented cases, Iranian operatives attempted to gather information on former senior security officials, including details about their places of residence and daily routines. This pattern has raised alarms within the Israeli security apparatus regarding Tehran's extended intelligence reach and its potential implications for the occupation's security.
New wave of Iranian missiles strikes 'Israel'
Iran has launched a fresh wave of missiles targeting Tel Aviv and vast areas across northern "Israel" amid a state of high alert in occupied territories, Israeli media reported during the early hours of Saturday.
The Israeli occupation then acknowledged the deaths of two settlers and injuries of 40 others in the bombardment of Rishon LeZion in central "Israel", as reports relay concerns for casualties stuck beneath the rubble. Israeli media additionally reported that around 10 firefighting and rescue teams are operating in the area.
Rishon LeZion holds significant military importance due to its proximity to strategic military infrastructure, such as the Kirya military headquarters, making it a key logistical and command hub during wars. It lies near major defense industry hubs like Israel Aerospace Industries and Rafael, with many residents contributing to military R&D and production. The settlement's role in military recruitment, especially in tech and intelligence units, further ties it to the Israeli military's ecosystem.
