Iranian forces announced on Saturday that they had shot down multiple Israeli drones that breached the country’s airspace over the northwestern Salmas border region. According to Iranian state media, the drones were engaged in reconnaissance and espionage activities when they were intercepted.

"Iranian Islamic fighters in the Salmas border region successfully shot down Israeli drones that had violated the nation’s airspace," the report declared, noting that the operation targeted several unmanned aerial vehicles believed to be gathering intelligence in sensitive areas.

State television described the incursion as a "deliberate violation" of Iranian sovereignty, emphasizing that the Israeli drones were attempting to surveil strategic military and border zones, marking yet another hostile act by the Israeli occupation amid escalating regional tensions.

The Islamic Republic has consistently condemned Israeli acts of aggression, particularly in light of "Israel’s" ongoing war on Gaza and its broader campaign against resistance forces across the region.

Tehran warned that such provocations would not go unanswered and reaffirmed its right to defend its territorial integrity.

The downing of the drones comes after Iran retaliated against the Israeli occupation's massive aggression on Iranian territories. Iranian officials have reiterated that any breach of the country’s airspace will be met with a decisive and immediate response.

This incident reinforces Tehran’s position that violations of its territorial integrity by the Zionist entity will not go unanswered, especially amid the ongoing confrontation across multiple fronts in the region.
