Iraq's Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein denounced threats made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the UN General Assembly, calling them "unacceptable" and affirming that any attack on an Iraqi citizen would be treated as an attack on the entire nation.
Speaking at a press conference in New York, Hussein stressed that the remarks delivered from the UN podium represent a violation of Iraq's sovereignty and an affront to its people. He added that Baghdad categorically rejects all Israeli threats and will respond politically and diplomatically to defend its citizens.
Netanyahu's speech prompted a mass walkout by dozens of diplomatic delegations, many leaving the hall as he began his address. His remarks, which included direct threats toward resistance factions in Iraq, were delivered alongside vows to "finish the job" in Gaza and criticism of countries recognizing Palestinian statehood.
Iraqi officials have repeatedly warned about the dangers posed by "Israel's" escalation, pointing to earlier attempts to target Iraq under the pretext of security. In March, Hussein revealed that Baghdad had thwarted an Israeli plan to strike Iraq, though he warned that the risk had only been postponed, not eliminated.

Netanyahu's statements come as part of a broader pattern of aggression aimed at justifying cross-border strikes against groups aligned with the Axis of Resistance. For Iraq, such threats not only endanger its security but also seek to draw the country into a wider regional confrontation at a moment of heightened tensions across the Middle East.
Hussein reaffirmed that Iraq will continue to work with international partners to counter Israeli provocations, insisting that any aggression against Iraqis will be treated as a direct attack on the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
