Ireland stands up for Gaza: Palestine has every right to resist
Demonstrations in support of Palestine take place in Ireland, and Irish Representative Richard Boyd Barrett draws attention to the West's double standards.
Hundreds of Irish pro-Palestine activists demonstrated in front of the Israeli embassy in Dublin, on Monday evening, deploring the barbaric bombing of the Gaza Strip by Israeli Occupation Forces.
The demonstrators underscored that Palestinians have the full right to defend themselves and commended the Palestinian Resistance reaffirming their right to defend their freedom in all ways deemed appropriate.
In turn, Irish Representative Richard Boyd Barrett gave a speech during the demonstrations and drew attention to the "double standards" of the United States of America, the European Union, and the Government of Ireland, "who had supported Ukraine with all kinds of weapons and ammunition over the previous two years, down to internationally prohibited cluster munitions, and renounced the Palestinian people who had every right to resist occupation, as terrorists."
"All human rights institutions have accused Israel of crimes against humanity, war crimes, and ethnic cleansing," Barrett said, adding that "these institutions disguised Israel's crimes throughout the blockade of Gaza from the policy of collective punishment of 2 million people, and aggression contorted the aggression against the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the United Nations designation of Gaza as a state of ongoing humanitarian crisis. Moreover, the Irish representative stressed: "What did the Western world do? None; no boycott, no denunciation of Israeli terrorism, even refusing to use the word apartheid to describe such terrorism [against the Palestinians]."
"How do they expect the Palestinian people to feel about this? Which is every day the West treats them as human beings of a lower degree, with inhumanity, while every day they say we want weapons for Israel."
NYC demonstration in support of Gaza, rejection of US aid to 'Israel'
Hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered Monday in the heart of Manhattan, denouncing the Israeli occupation government and demanding that the United States stop supporting its ally, amid an ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
People of all ages stood outside the Israeli consulate general, waving Palestinian flags. Young activists wearing Palestinian keffiyeh headscarves took turns at a megaphone to demand a "free Palestine" and "an end to the colonization and occupation of our Arab land."
This comes as the Israeli occupation continues its brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip for the fourth day in a row. The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that 687 Palestinians, including 140 children and 105 women, have been martyred, while 3,726 were injured as a result of deliberate Israeli targeting of civilians in the Strip.
It is noteworthy that the Pentagon said on Sunday that it was sending the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford and its accompanying warships to the eastern Mediterranean in a show of support for the Israeli occupation.
US Central Command confirmed Sunday afternoon that ships and planes had begun moving to their new posts. Hamas later accused the United States of "actual participation in the aggression against our people" by moving the aircraft carrier.
