Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced Saturday that eight operatives linked to the Israeli Mossad intelligence agency were arrested in Khorasan Province, according to the state broadcaster.
The IRGC’s Public Relations Department stated that the detainees had received online training from Mossad handlers. During the 12-day US-Israeli aggression on Iran, they reportedly transmitted coordinates of strategic and sensitive locations, as well as information on high-ranking military figures, to the Israeli intelligence agency.
Authorities said the group was preparing to launch attacks on civilian and military officials, in addition to targeting critical facilities in Mashhad, before their capture.
Confiscated items reportedly included materials used for manufacturing launchers, bombs, explosives, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), the statement added.
Iran arrests 20 Mossad agents in Tehran, other provinces
Earlier this month, Iran’s judiciary spokesperson, Asghar Jahangir, announced that the Ministry of Intelligence has arrested 20 individuals accused of working for the Israeli Mossad in Tehran and several other provinces.
At the time, Jahangir said the detainees’ cases are under review by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and stressed that the judiciary “will show no leniency toward spies and agents of the Israeli entity,” vowing that firm sentences will be issued “to serve as a lesson for all.”
On his part, Iran’s judiciary chief, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, has repeatedly emphasized that the country’s courts will deal with espionage cases firmly and in accordance with the law and principles of justice.
