'Israel' to soon be punished for its war crimes: Iranian MFA
Nasser Kanaani emphasizes that Wael al-Dahdouh would be among the correspondents more determined to undertake the task of fallen colleagues.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani has condemned "Israel's" continuous military assault on the besieged Gaza Strip and the loss of civilian life, adding that Israeli war criminals and their supporters will soon pay for their crimes.
Kanaani posted a video on X showing Wael al-Dahdouh, director of Al-Jazeera's Gaza bureau, who was shaken by the heinous crime the Israeli occupation committed on Wednesday. In one strike, the Israeli occupation took the lives of al-Dahdouh's wife, son, daughter, and grandson.

Kanaani emphasized that al-Dahdouh would be among those correspondents who become more determined to undertake the task of fallen colleagues and report on the "oppressed, steadfast, and brave," Palestinian people.
In a statement, Al Jazeera strongly condemned the "indiscriminate targeting and killing of innocent civilians in Gaza, which has led to the loss of Wael al-Dahdouh’s family and countless others."
In a heart-wrenching update, the toll on Palestinian journalists amid relentless Israeli airstrikes on Gaza has surged, with a tragic count of 27 killed since the 7th of October, as per the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).
On its part, the Palestinian Journalist Syndicate strongly condemned the continuous crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against people and journalists in Gaza.
In a statement released earlier by the Syndicate, it was noted that 24 journalists, both male and female, have been killed and others have been injured since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza on the 7th of this month, however, the number continues to increase. Additionally, family members of journalists have also been killed or injured.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) warned of particularly high risks to journalists in Gaza due to Israeli airstrikes and a threat of a looming invasion.
“The main challenge for journalists covering the military confrontation in Gaza is their own safety — being killed while covering airstrikes or clashes."
Sherif Mansour, CPJ’s Middle East and North Africa program coordinator, disclosed that the main challenge for journalists was their own safety
“Journalists in Gaza have paid and continue to pay unprecedented tolls and face exponential threats,” Mansour explained.
