Israeli incursions into West Bank lead to confrontations, injuries
The Israeli occupation forces carry out numerous incursions in the occupied West Bank, leading to fierce confrontations amid already heightened tensions.
In the early hours of Monday, the Israeli occupation forces stormed the city of Jenin in the West Bank through the Jalameh checkpoint located to the north of the city. The raid was met with fierce resistance from local fighters, leading to armed confrontations.
Israeli soldiers surrounded a house in Jenin, sparking intense armed confrontations with Resistance fighters on Nablus Street and in the Marah neighborhood. The confrontations resulted in the injury of two young men, as the sound of sirens echoed throughout the city.
Local media sources reported that the Resistance fighters targeted an Israeli infantry unit in Jenin with an explosive device.
The al-Quds Brigades - Jenin Battalion issued a statement claiming responsibility for confronting the invading Israeli forces with gunfire. They stated that their fighters "engaged in confrontations with the invading occupation forces at the Razi, Hathnawi, and Nablus Street axes, using gunfire and explosive devices."
Similarly, the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades - Jenin Battalion, announced that their fighters had engaged in heavy clashes with the invading occupation forces using automatic weapons and explosive devices.
In addition to the violence in Jenin, the Israeli forces arrested Samir Abu Obeid, the father of martyr Ahmed Abu Obeid, along with Wagdi Hathnawi, after raiding their homes in the same city.
The unrest was not limited to Jenin. In Nablus, Resistance fighters opened fire on Israeli forces at the Gerizim checkpoint, located to the south of the city.
Elsewhere, in a series of early morning raids, Israeli forces stormed the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp in Areeha. Local media reported that Resistance fighters targeted the Hamra military checkpoint north of Areeha with automatic weapons, accurately hitting the invading Israeli soldiers.
In the central West Bank, Israeli forces also raided the town of Silwad, located northeast of Ramallah.
These latest incidents are part of a broader escalation of violence in the West Bank, which has seen an increase in confrontations since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. Towns and cities across the West Bank have been subjected to daily incursions by settlers and occupation forces, often resulting in widespread arrests, as well as deaths and injuries.
Israeli occupation soldiers, the UN Secretary-General's spokesperson said, killed 16 Palestinians between July 30 and August 5, including two children, and injured 56 others in the occupied West Bank.
Spokesperson Farhan Haq stressed that Palestinians continue to be killed and displaced by Israeli occupation troops in the West Bank. He emphasized that over the same period, "Israel" also launched over 20 attacks on Palestinians, resulting in injuries and property damage.
