Israeli media: Arrest of PIJ official causes unusual alertness
Israeli media report fear of a response to the arrest of Islamic Jihad official Bassam Al-Saadi, referring to an extraordinary alert inside the Gaza envelope area.
Israeli media reported on Tuesday that the southern command is on high alert, fearing an escalation in Gaza, after the brutal arrest of an Islamic Jihad official from Jenin Camp, Bassam Al-Saadi.
As a result of high and unusual alertness, the roads in the Gaza envelope were closed and trains were suspended between Asqalan and "Sderot".
In the same context, a senior officer in the Israeli occupation forces explained that the decision to close the roads “sprang from an intelligence alert, as well as an assessment of the situation at night, which was executed by the Israeli occupation forces."
The officer added that the precautionary measures were aimed at de-escalation in Gaza.
The military correspondent of the Israeli army radio said there is an "unusual level of alert in the area surrounding the Gaza Strip, a scale that we have not seen since Operation Fences Guard."
Moreover, the Israeli Channel 12 website stated that "the preparedness is at its peak," adding that "in the security establishment, they are preparing for a possible escalation after the arrest of Al-Saadi."
The Channel 12 website confirmed that the crossroads and areas adjacent to the "separation barrier" will stop trains between Asqalan stations from the north and "Netivot" from the south, maintaining that the "Sderot" station will be closed temporarily.
The Israeli occupation forces arrested the official of the Islamic Jihad, Sheikh Bassam Al-Saadi, on Monday evening, as part of an arrest operation in the Jenin area.
Ezz Al-Din Al-Saadi, the PIJ leader's son, said that the occupation arrested his father and his sister's husband, noting that "his father was injured during the storming, and he does not know where they were taken to."
Al-Saadi was arrested by IOF
Yesterday, special units of the Israeli occupation stormed the house of the leader of the Islamic Jihad Movement Bassam Al-Saadi, and arrested him and his brother-in-law Ashraf Al-Jada in his home in Jenin Camp, after assaulting them and taking them to an unknown destination.
Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin reported that Al-Saadi's wife was rushed to the emergency after the occupation soldiers beat her while arresting her husband.
The Palestinian resistance factions warned the occupation against harming Al-Saadi, declaring alertness and readiness of combat units.
The factions launched a solidarity campaign with Al-Saadi, stressing that he is an example of altruism.
