Israeli occupation extends Al-Saadi's detention for 6 days
An Israeli occupation court extends the detention of PIJ official Bassam Al-Saadi for six days.
An Israeli occupation military court extended on Thursday the detention of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) official Bassam Al-Saadi for six days, almost 10 days after his arrest.
"The Ofer military court extended the detention of Al-Saadi for six days," the Palestinian prisoner's media center said in a brief statement.
A United Nations team visited on Wednesday Sheikh Bassam Al-Saadi in the "Ofer" prison in light of the implementation of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
"Today, I dispatched a UN team to visit Sheikh Al-Saadi in Ofer prison to follow up on UN commitments to maintain calm in Gaza," United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland said on Twitter.
"I reiterate that the ceasefire in Gaza is very fragile and I call on all sides to preserve the calm," he added.

The freedom of Al-Saadi was among the main clauses of the Egyptian-mediated ceasefire between the PIJ and the Israeli occupation, which took place earlier this week after several days of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, killing dozens of Palestinian civilians and wounding hundreds of others.
The Israeli occupation began on August 5 its aggression on the Gaza Strip, and Al-Quds Brigades announced that Taiseer Al-Jaabari, a military commander in the northern Gaza Strip, had been martyred.
Consequently, Al-Quds Brigades launched an operation in response to the Israeli occupation's aggression on the Gaza Strip by launching salvoes of rockets toward the occupied Palestinian territories.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported earlier this month that "the Israeli special force raided the house of PIJ movement official Bassam Al-Saadi in the camp," and Israeli media reported the arrest of Al-Saadi.
Ezz El-Din Al-Saadi, the son of the PIJ official, said that the occupation arrested his father and his brother-in-law, noting that his father "was injured during the storming," and he "does not know where they were both taken."
Israeli media said that the Israeli forces arrested PIJ official Al-Saadi, who was wounded before being captured, revealing reports about a serious injury he sustained in his abdomen.
