Local sources reported increased Israeli military activity on Thursday along the Syrian border with occupied Palestine, including patrols, aerial flights, and unauthorized settler crossings into Syrian territory.
Local Syrian sources reported that an Israeli patrol advanced into the village of al-Asha in the Quneitra countryside, notifying residents that excavation and fortification work are expected to take place soon to the west of the village. The sources added that Israeli military aircraft were also observed flying over Quneitra province.
In a related development, around eight Israeli settlers reportedly crossed into Syrian territory from the border fence at two separate points.
In the occupied Syrian Golan, the intruders reportedly breached the border using a disc saw and reached Bir al-Ajam, opposite the settlement of Aloni Habashan, before being returned by the Israeli army. At another point, settlers raided Syrian lands in the Mount Hermon area.
'Israel' takes free rein in southern Syria
Earlier on November 26, sources in Quneitra reported that an Israeli military patrol raided Syrian territory with five armored vehicles along the road between the villages of al-Qahtaniya and Umm al-Azam, where the occupation forces established a temporary checkpoint and blocked movement in the area.
Additionally, an Israeli patrol moved along the Samdaniya–Khan Arnaba road, setting up a checkpoint in the area, local sources in Quneitra, southern Syria, reported, with the patrol consisting of three military vehicles.
Another Israeli patrol moved between al-Ajraf and Umm Batna in northern Quneitra, setting up a checkpoint in nearby farmland, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that, for the second day, occupation forces blocked residents of al-Hamidiyah from repairing a key water pumping line.
Similarly, on November 23, a patrol from the Israeli occupation forces entered Syria’s Quneitra countryside and set up a temporary checkpoint between the towns of al-Ajraf and Umm Batnah, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
Violation comes amid continued aggression on Syria
The latest move by the occupation forces is part of an ongoing pattern of Israeli violations targeting Syrian sovereignty. These actions have intensified since the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad’s government in December 2024.
Recently, on November 21, an Israeli occupation army spokesperson announced that the reserve "Spearhead" Brigade (Unit 55) was mobilized in the past few months and is operating in Syria's south under the command of the 210th Division.
The occupation forces' spokesperson stated that the Spearhead brigade recently completed sweeping operations in southern Syrian territory, wherein they allegedly gathered uncovered weapons, including remnants of rockets and RPGs.
Israeli incursion into Syria also frequently includes the detention of civilians from the region.
Syria's SANA news agency reported on November 16 that Israeli forces arrested four young men in the al-Hafayer area in northern Quneitra, stating that they were working on rehabilitating and repairing a farm that was damaged by Israeli occupation forces. The news outlet stated that their fate remains unknown.
