Israeli West Bank base left unguarded for 5 hours amid officers' row
The i24NEWS report explained that training soldiers at the Israeli Kfir facility abandoned their guard posts on orders from commanders without any replacement or notification.
An Israeli military base near the occupied West Bank, used for training special units, was left completely unguarded at all posts—including the ammunition and weapons depots—for five consecutive hours, the Israeli news website i24NEWS reported.
The report explained that training soldiers at the Israeli Kfir facility abandoned their guard posts on orders from commanders without any replacement or notification, attributing the situation to a dispute among Israeli officers.
Soldiers who passed by the empty posts for several hours expressed alarm, saying, "This is extremely concerning. If militants had managed to infiltrate the base, what would we have done? Everything was completely exposed."
According to i24NEWS, the military facility, located on the borders of the occupied West Bank, has experienced a significant number of theft incidents in recent years.
The Israeli military spokesperson has yet to comment on the report.
The revelation comes as "Israel" persists with its daily assaults on the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 10 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the town of Tammun in Tubas Governorate, northern West Bank.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported on Wednesday evening that an Israeli strike hit a home in Tammun, south of Tubas.
The Israeli occupation forces confirmed the operation in a statement, claiming it targeted an "armed cell".
Hamas condemned the attack, stating in a press release that "the cowardly assassination operation in Tammun and the ongoing crimes of the occupation in the West Bank will not break our resistance nor intimidate our people."
The movement mourned the martyrs of Tammun and praised "the heroes of the Resistance in Tubas, Tulkarm, Jenin, and its refugee camps, who bravely confront the occupation."
Hamas called on Palestinians in the West Bank, al-Quds, and within the Green Line to escalate resistance "by all means" against Israeli forces, militias, and settlers.
Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz said that the military "will remain in Jenin after the conclusion of the military operation."
Speaking from the Jenin refugee camp, Katz said that "Israel" has declared war on the West Bank, noting that after the "military operations destroy military infrastructure built in the Palestinians' refugee camps, our forces will remain in the [Jenin] camp."
The Jenin refugee camp "will not go back to what it once was," he claimed.
The Israeli occupation military has launched an intense assault, dubbed "Iron Wall", on the Jenin area, now in its 10th day, which includes killing and arresting Palestinians, as well as burning, demolishing, and bulldozing Palestinian citizens' homes and properties in the Jenin camp's neighborhoods.
Israeli troops or settlers have killed at least 863 Palestinians, including many militants, in the West Bank since the start of the Gaza war, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
