Jenin victory is an extension of Axis of Resistance victories: Shehab
The head of the PIJ media office tells Al Mayadeen that Resistance fighters in Jenin demonstrated a great ability to confront the Israeli occupation.
Daoud Shehab, the head of the media office of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement, said Jenin's victory is for the Palestinian people, the Resistance, Al-Quds Brigades, and all the Axis of Resistance.
Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Shehab said today is a day of joy and pride, "despite the wounds that afflicted us."
He indicated that "it is not something new for Jenin to achieve this steadfastness and record this victory," pointing out that one of the main factors in achieving this victory was the security and field tactics of the Resistance fighters that have been implemented.
He continued, "This is Jenin, which unites the entire Palestinian people behind it," noting that the most important message after the Jenin battle is that "the Resistance is the only factor around which the Palestinian people gather."
The Palestinian official told Al Mayadeen that "the Resistance fighters demonstrated a great ability to confront the enemy, lure it in, and set up ambushes and explosive devices for it.
Shehab said the Resistance's ability to avoid preemptive strikes defeated the occupation and failed its plans, adding that "the enemy believed that the preemptive strikes would eliminate dozens of resistance fighters," but the field proved otherwise.
The PIJ official revealed to Al Mayadeen that the decision to involve Gaza in the confrontation had been taken, and the choice of timing was left for the appropriate moment that the situation in Jenin determined.
He highlighted that Al-Quds Brigades managed, within hours only, to shoot down Israeli occupation drones.
Shehab considered that the latest battle in Jenin "is an extension of the victories of the nation and the victories of the Lebanese Resistance," noting that what the Israeli occupation faced in Jenin was similar to what it faced in Maroun Al-Ras in 2006 in southern Lebanon, which is the inability to detect the location of Resistance fighters.
Elsewhere, Shehab saluted the resistant Yemeni people who came out yesterday in the millions to support Jenin.
Shehab's statements came after the Israeli occupation military announced on Wednesday morning the cessation of its aggression against the city of Jenin and its camp.
The spokesperson for the Israeli occupation military confirmed that a soldier from the Egoz Israeli elite military unit was killed after being shot in the chest during the battle of the Fury of Jenin.
