Jordanian martyrs an inspiring model for others: Abu Obeida
Al-Qassam Brigades has released photos and details regarding the latest operation conducted by two Jordanians against Israeli occupation forces near the Dead Sea.
Al-Qassam website published the remarks of Abu Obeida, the spokesperson of Hamas' military wing al-Qassam Brigades, where he commented on a recent operation conducted by two Jordanians near the Dead Sea, in Israeli-occupied Palestine.
The two Jordanian martyrs, Hossam Abu Ghazaleh and Amer Qawas, crossed into Israeli-occupied territories from Jordan before engaging occupation forces in a gunfight.
As a result, two Israeli soldiers were wounded in confrontations on October 18, 2024.
Abu Obeida revealed that al-Qassam Brigades' leadership recieved reports on the significant operation "with immense pride," describing the event as a "bold and heroic act that once again strengthened the promising Jordanian front."
"Martyrs Hossam Abu Ghazaleh and Amer Qawas are heroes of the al-Aqsa Flood and will remain an inspiring model for the free Jordanian people and its notable tribes, known for their remarkable stances and outstanding acts of bravery," the spokesperson stated.
Jordan shares a 482 km border with Israeli-occupied Palestinian and Syrian territories, stretching from the Golan Heights through the West Bank, and the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba on the Red Sea.
Jordanians have also participated in demonstrations in support of Gaza, mostly centering around the Israeli Embassy in Jordan. However, armed confrontations against the occupation forces have been rare.
This incident marks the second such attempt since Operation al-Aqsa Flood was launched on October 7, 2023. The other incident, attributed to an operation in support of Palestinians, was conducted by martyr Maher al-Jazi, on September 8, 2024, at the Elenby crossing, where he killed three Israeli officers.
This time around, Hamas' military wing published photos taken by the two martyrs at a time preceding the operation, which targeted an Israeli checkpoint near the Dead Sea.
Matryr Qawas and Martyr Abu Gahzaleh infiltrated the Jordanian border and engaged Israeli soldiers near Ein Gedi, killing and injuring several, according to al-Qassam Brigades.
