Knesset plan to divide Al-Aqsa 'war declaration': Jordanian party
The Islamic Action Front party calls on the Jordanian government to assume its responsibilities through effective measures to confront the division of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Jordanian Islamic Action Front party pointed out that the Israeli occupation Knesset's discussion of the project to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque represents a declaration of war and a blatant assault on the Jordanian guardianship over the holy sites in occupied Al-Quds.
In a statement, the party called on the Jordanian government to assume its responsibilities through effective measures to confront the division and Judaization project that Al-Aqsa Mosque is exposed to.
The statement warned of the danger of the bill that was put forward in the Knesset, which proposed dividing Al-Aqsa Mosque spatially between Muslims and Israeli settlers, stressing that it constitutes a declaration of war and a detonator for the situation in the region, a blatant assault on Jordanian sovereignty and the Jordanian guardianship over the holy sites in occupied Al-Quds, and a provocation to the feelings of Muslims.
The party stressed that this dangerous measure reflects the insistence of the Israeli occupation government in pursuing its plan to change the status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and impose the temporal and spatial division inside it, which requires the Jordanian government to take urgent, effective, and firm measures that go beyond statements of denunciation and condemnation.
The Islamic Action Front party also demanded the cancellation of the so-called "Wadi Araba" treaty, the expulsion of the Israeli occupation ambassador, the summoning of the Jordanian ambassador in "Israel", and the cancellation of all agreements signed with the occupation, especially the gas agreement, in line with the Jordanian popular position toward the Israeli enemy.
Elsewhere, the statement called on Arab and Islamic countries to assume their responsibilities toward Al-Aqsa Mosque and confront the occupation plans that target it.
A couple of days ago, Palestinian media reported that the Israeli occupation is tailoring provocative plans, the first of their kind, to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied city of Al-Quds so that one part of the compound would be granted exclusively to Israeli settlers.
According to the Ramallah-based Al-Ayyam daily, Knesset member Amit Halevi is credited for conceiving the ploy aiming to give settlers an exclusive right to "pray" at the compound.
It also revealed that Halevi issued a call for allocating the southern part of the compound to Muslims while granting the central and northern parts, which include the holy Dome of the Rock, to the settlers.
Halevi's plan also includes allowing settlers to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque compound through all its gates, rather than only from Al-Mughrabi Gate, as is the case at the present time.
The Likud party Knesset member has stated that his plan involves stripping off the guardianship of the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Jordanian government.
