The Kremlin announced that there will be no fixed deadline for finalizing a joint memorandum between Russia and Ukraine concerning a possible ceasefire and peace agreement, citing the complexity of the negotiations.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti that while all sides are eager to reach an agreement quickly, the process remains fraught with intricate details that require careful handling.
"There are no deadlines and there cannot be any. It is clear that everyone wants to do this as quickly as possible, but, of course, the devil is in the details," Peskov said.
He explained that both Russia and Ukraine would work on preparing their individual drafts, which would then be shared and followed by “complex contacts to develop a single text.”

Peace momentum builds after Trump-Putin-Zelensky calls
Peskov’s comments came shortly after US President Donald Trump held a series of phone calls on Monday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and several European leaders, including those of France, Italy, Germany, Finland, and the EU leadership, in a renewed push to end the three-year war.
Following the calls, Trump said that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to begin immediate negotiations for a ceasefire, characterizing the discussions as a significant breakthrough in the peace process.
In response, President Putin confirmed Russia’s willingness to cooperate, saying Moscow "is ready to work with the Ukrainian side on a memorandum on a possible future peace accord."
