Macron receives severed finger from living human in mail
The package containing the disturbing contents arrived at the Elysee Palace in Paris.
French President Emmanuel Macron received a morbid special delivery on Monday, a living human's severed finger.
The package made its way to the Elysee Palace on Monday and was "put in a fridge where the police put their snacks," according to a source in the palace, in order to preserve it and analyze it as quickly as possible.
Tests later identified the finger as belonging to a “living human being,” who was contacted and “given full medical support,” said the source. There was no note, or any other form of correspondence, accompanying the finger, leaving investigators baffled.
According to the source in the palace, “It’s not at all clear why this finger was sent to the president,” adding that the owner of the finger could not be identified for many reasons, one being confidentiality.
The French President has received many odd items over the years, including bullets, but human body parts have never made their way until now.
In an article published by The Spectator, Titled "France is on the brink, again", Gavin Mortimer argues that French President Emmanuel Macron is facing the "gravest crisis" of his presidency after a wave of riots took the country by storm.
Rioting is mainly concentrated in the Paris region, most notably Nanterre, to the west of the capital, where seventeen-year-old Nahel M. was murdered in cold blood by a French police officer.
Meanwhile, thousands rallied in Nanterre with the mother of Nahel on Thursday in a march to honor him. "No justice, no peace!", the crowds yelled, as well as "Everyone hates the police."
Macron is expected to face more backlash on Friday when he will lead the Bastille Day celebrations in Paris.
