Explosions occurred in Pakistan's Rawalpindi and Lahore on Friday night, with reports indicating a missile strike by India on the Nur Khan Airbase near Chaklala, as the tit-for-tat strikes between India and Pakistan continue to escalate.

Two explosions were heard near the airbase, triggering an immediate reaction from local police and emergency personnel. Authorities have cordoned off the area, and security sources say the intended attack was prevented.

Multiple explosions were reported in Lahore, while the exact facts and locations are still being investigated.

Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Pakistan also reported five explosions in Peshawar.

The Pakistani army reported that Pakistani air defenses intercepted most of the missiles fired by India, and missiles that were not intercepted failed to reach their targets.

In this context, a Pakistani military spokesperson announced on Friday afternoon that Islamabad "will not de-escalate tensions with India."

The Pakistani Air Force also said that " more than 100 Pakistani and Indian aircraft clashed for an hour last Wednesday."

"No one should doubt that our armed forces are fully engaged in responding to Indian aggression," Pakistan's defense minister was quoted as saying in a speech to parliament.

Pakistan launched multiple attacks along India's western border

The Indian Army announced on Friday that Pakistan launched "multiple attacks" using drones and other munitions across India’s entire western border, intensifying the India-Pakistan conflict following recent airstrikes by India on alleged terrorist camps in Pakistan.

Multiple attacks were launched by Pakistan's armed forces using drones and other munitions along India's entire western border, the Indian Army said.

This marks a dangerous escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbors, who have been locked in conflict since India’s airstrikes against Pakistan on Wednesday.

Those strikes, according to New Delhi, targeted "terrorist camps" in Pakistan in response to the deadly Pahalgam attack in Kashmir last month. India has blamed Islamabad for its role in that attack, an allegation Pakistan denies.

Since then, both nations have exchanged cross-border firing and shelling, with drones and missiles entering each other’s airspace, and nearly four dozen people reported dead as violence has intensified across the de facto border in Kashmir and beyond.
