Moscow demands withdrawal of all foreign forces from Syria
Following clashes with ISIS militants in the Al-Sinaa prison south of the city of Al-Hasakah, Russia's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN says the US has failed to confront terrorism in Syria.
Russia's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, called on all foreign forces illegally present in Syria to withdraw immediately and considered that the US has failed to confront terrorism in the country.
Polyansky pointed out that the recent events at Al-Sinaa prison in the city of Al-Hasakah are a result of the US occupation "making overtures to the terrorist elements in the Syrian Arab Republic."
He also expressed Russia's concern "over the possible indiscriminate strikes of the American aviation, because wherever they are involved, there are often mass casualties among civilians."
The Russian diplomat noted, "The areas that Americans have been robbing of oil suffer from a true environmental disaster."
"However the United Nations does not give any assessment to this situation," he added.
Polyansky underlined that the illegal US occupation in Syria created a "lawless zone", "where foreign terrorists and militants, as well as various criminals, feel perfectly at ease."
Two days ago, Moscow announced that it had requested a UN Security Council meeting on the recent attacks launched by ISIS in northeastern Syria.
Renewed clashes
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Syria reported the renewed violent clashes between the SDF forces and ISIS militants in the northern dormitories inside Al-Sinaa Prison, south of the city of Al-Hasakah.
Our correspondent added that the warplanes of the international coalition, led by the US, carried out several raids in the vicinity of the prison.
That came despite the SDF announcing, Wednesday, completely seizing Al-Sinaa prison in the Syrian Al-Hasakah Governorate.
The SDF media center announced that the number of ISIS militants who surrendered in the prison has reached more than 1,000.
An SDF official leadership confirmed that about 550 militants coming from outside the prison were arrested, while the number of dead ISIS militants is still unknown.
ISIS began its attacks last Thursday when two car bombs exploded in front of the gates of Al-Sinaa prison for ISIS detainees, south of Al-Hasakah.
