Moscow Welcomes Grossi's Visit to Tehran
Moscow welcomes IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi's visit to Tehran and calls on all JCPOA partners, including Tehran and Washington, to return to the negotiation table as soon as possible.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow is pleased with the agreements struck during the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency's visit to Iran on the maintenance of surveillance equipment deployed in the country's nuclear facilities.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated on Monday that Russia agrees with Grossi that this is how the most pressing technical problem was solved, which will allow the IAEA to examine the Iranian nuclear program without facing any obstacles.
The Foreign Ministry statement was issued after the visit of the IAEA Director General, Rafael Grossi, to Tehran, announcing that all sides have met the basic conditions required to continue moving forward in the negotiations at a steady pace.
The statement also called on all Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) partners, including Iran and US representatives, to return to the negotiation table as soon as possible and to reach an agreement based on the understandings and elements agreed on in the period from April till late June.
Moreover, the Foreign Ministry reiterated that the shortest way to revive the nuclear agreement is through the simultaneous return of Washington and Tehran to their commitments stipulated in the JCPOA and UN Security Council Resolution 2231, declaring Russia's commitment to helping in achieving so in every possible way.
The Russian Foreign Ministry's stance comes after the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh confirmed on Monday that his country values its relations with its neighboring countries and that cooperation between Iran and the IAEA will restart without interference.
Khatibzadeh indicated that the IAEA Director General, Rafael Grossi, will return to Tehran after the IAEA officials' meeting.
It is noteworthy that Russia's Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, had confirmed in July his country's position on reviving the Iranian nuclear agreement, noting that Moscow opposes adding new terms to the agreement.
