The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Sunday published a statement expressing strong condemnation of the recent Israeli massacre on the Nuseirat refugee camp which claimed the lives of 274 people.

"The racist Zionist entity and its criminal government continue to commit the most heinous massacres through their blind attack against the Palestinian people in Gaza, which claimed the lives of 274 martyrs and wounded 698 in Nuseirat camp on Saturday," the statement read.

"Israeli terrorist army committed another horrible massacre against innocent civilians, and there is evidence proving Washington's complicity in this massacre and in all war crimes committed in Gaza," the ministry added.

No words can come close to describing the scale of Zionist barbarity, which has been recognized by both the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court (ICC), the statement adds.

Syria, which has consistently stood alongside the Palestinian cause against fascism, reiterates the imperative for holding the perpetrators of these crimes—"Israel" and its fascist government—accountable before international courts, the statement concludes.

Following the massacre on Saturday, the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas urged the UN Security Council to hold an emergency session.

News sources reported that Abbas is actively involved in diplomatic engagements and working closely with Arab and international stakeholders to arrange an extraordinary session of the UNSC and address Israeli military actions in Gaza.

According to The New York Times, the US provided intelligence on the Israeli captives retrieved from Gaza.

One American official who spoke on condition of anonymity told NYT that a team of American experts stationed in Israeli-occupied lands supported the Israeli military in retrieving the four captives by giving information and other logistical support.

Two other Israeli sources said that US military officers gave the occupation information regarding the captives retrieved Saturday.

As a result, several observers have inferred that the Nuseirat refugee massacre was orchestrated with US complicity.
