Palestine's Longest-Serving Female Prisoner Released
A bride-to-be victim of an Israeli wrongful arrest and false imprisonment has been finally released after spending seven years in Damon prison.
Amal Taqatqa, the longest-serving Palestinian female prisoner, has been released by the Israeli occupation authorities after being deprived of her freedom for seven years.
Amal's family anxiously waited for more than eight hours for her daughter to be released at the al- Jalama checkpoint in occupied West Bank.
Following the release, the captive stressed the need to stand by the prisoners until freedom, noting that the situation of her fellow prisoners is very difficult.
In a statement immediately following her release, Amal stressed the importance of backing prisoners until they get their freedom back, noting that the situation of female prisoners is extremely difficult.
At the time of her arrest, the bride-to-be Amal was intentionally shot by the Israeli occupation under the pretext of allegedly trying to carry out a stabbing attack.
The injured Amal underwent several operations after her unlawful arrest.

The story of an unwillingly postponed wedding
At the age of 21, Amal was supposed to wed and live happily ever after. Yet, the Israeli occupation turned what is supposed to be a happy memory into a real nightmare.
On December 1, 2014, Amal was preparing for her marriage and was on a shopping trip a few days before when she was illegally arrested by the Israeli occupation forces after intentionally shooting her three times near “Gush Etzion”, an Israeli-occupied Palestinian city, south of Bethlehem.
Amal’s groom had no choice but to postpone his most-awaited wedding while his bride was at the Israeli prison "Damon”, not to mention the five bullets which penetrated her body when she desperately tried to escape an alleged "crime" she did not commit.
Amal was unable to walk for more than six months as a result of the injury. The wounded Palestinian asked for a wheelchair, but her request was refused. After being pressured by fellow female prisoners, the Israeli occupation authorities agreed to provide Amal with a wheelchair. Amal recovered after suffering for months.
