Sirens sounded in the occupied Palestinian village of Isdud on Sunday after two rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip, Israeli media reported on Sunday.

An Israeli military spokesman stated that their air defense system intercepted one projectile while the second one landed in an open area, confirming that there were no casualties. The last similar rocket launch occurred on July 1st of this year, when the al-Qassam Brigades targeted the settlements of Nir Itzhak and Mivtachim with a barrage of Q20-type rockets.

This rocket launch comes approximately 700 days after the Israeli occupation launched its genocidal war on Gaza, most recently intensifying its assault on Gaza City and announcing the beginning of a ground incursion by its forces into the city just days ago.

Undefeated Hamas a fighting force in Gaza: NYT

According to The New York Times, Hamas remains an undefeated, powerful fighting force in Gaza, despite two years of aggression across the Strip, relentless airstrikes and bombardments, and a complete siege.

Rather than engaging in direct combat against the vastly more powerful Israeli military, Hamas has employed a strategy of staging hit-and-run attacks, planting explosives beneath roads, inside buildings, and on top of Israeli military vehicles.

According to the Israeli military, approximately 70 soldiers have been killed in combat in Gaza since January.

Prior to "Israel's" full-scale assault on Gaza City, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested that defeating Hamas was within reach, a claim he has repeated often during the war, but military analysts say it is unlikely the new operation will deliver a decisive blow to the group.

As Israeli forces advance into Gaza City, Hamas' fighters are likely to disperse to other areas in the Strip. Although "Israel" could attempt to pursue them into these regions, security officials warn it would require years of fighting to prevent Hamas from reestablishing its presence, according to The New York Times.
