PFLP, PIJ: Palestinian unity thwarted all schemes
Deputy Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine Jamil Mezher and Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad movement Ziyad al-Nakhalah engage in discussions about the evolving situation in Gaza.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine Jamil Mezher and the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement Ziyad al-Nakhalah discussed the latest developments following Hamas' agreement to a proposed prisoner exchange and ceasefire deal with the Israeli occupation on Monday.
In a recent telephone conversation, Mezher and al-Nakhalah affirmed that the Palestinian Resistance factions' support for the ceasefire proposal was attributed to the unwavering resilience of the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian leaders emphasized that the cohesion among Resistance factions and the steadfastness of their people have effectively countered all adversities and set the stage for this remarkable achievement. They reiterated their commitment, "We stand united in bolstering Palestinian resilience and ensuring our existence, while also addressing the urgent needs for relief, shelter, and reconstruction."
Hamas agrees to mediators' proposed deal with 'Israel'
Islamic Resistance movement Hamas informed mediators that it has agreed to a proposed prisoner-captive exchange and ceasefire deal with the Israeli occupation, the movement's Media Office announced on Monday.
This was confirmed by a senior Palestinian Resistance official who told Al Mayadeen, "The mediators and Hamas reached a new, tight formula that would lead to a ceasefire, thus overcoming this dilemma."
"Hamas was extremely flexible in reaching an agreement, and the ball is now in Israel’s court," the source explained.
In its statement, the Resistance faction announced that the head of Hamas' Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, held a phone call with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammad bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, and the Director of Egyptian Intelligence, Minister Abbas Kamel, informing that the movement has agreed to "their proposal for a ceasefire."
A few hours after the Resistance group Hamas informed mediators that it had agreed on a proposed ceasefire agreement, the Israeli war cabinet decided unanimously to proceed with the invasion of Rafah.
In the same context, Netanyahu's office said that the ground offensive aims "to apply military pressure on Hamas, with the goal of making progress on freeing the hostages and the other war aims," adding that the proposal agreed to by the Resistance is “far from Israel’s obligatory demands.”
