PIJ, PFLP condemn Israeli aggression on IRGC commanders in Syria
The two Palestinian Resistance factions have put out statements expressing their support to the IRGC's steadfast actions against the Israeli occupation.
Palestinian Resistance factions condemned the Israeli aggression on Syria, in which four members of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) were martyred on Saturday morning.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) strongly condemned the attack, adding that the assassination plot comes in line with the Israeli authorities' attempt to expand the scope of its aggression in the region, to divert attention from its failures on the battlefield.
Offering its condolences to the Iranians, their government, and the IRGC's leadership, the PIJ stressed that the series of assassinations conducted by the Israeli regime "will not deter [Iran] from carrying on its battle against the enemy, and will not affect Syria’s position in supporting the Palestinian cause."
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) condemned the criminal Israeli act, describing it as "treacherous and cowardly." The PFLP emphasized that the "crazed" Israeli leadership carries out these plots with full Western and American backing, deludedly believing that they would somehow guarantee the occupation security that has proven elusive.
'Israel' attacks Syria's capital
Earlier on Saturday, the Syrian news agency SANA reported that Israeli aggression targeted a residential building in the al-Mazzeh neighborhood in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
In turn, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Damascus said that the strike completely destroyed the targeted building. Sources told Al Mayadeen that the three-story building in Damascus houses members of the IRGC.
Later, the IRGC announced in a statement that four Iranian military advisors were killed in the Israeli aggression on Damascus. Iranian media reported that Hajj Sadegh Omidzadeh, the IRGC's intelligence advisor in Syria, and his assistant, were killed in the attack.
On his part, the PIJ's representative in Syria, Ismail Al-Sindawi said, "All PIJ leaders in Damascus are fine, and the aggression has not affected any of the movement's offices."

IRGC does not remain silent
On December 25, 2023., senior Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Seyyed Razi Mousavi was martyred in an Israeli airstrike that targeted his residence in Damascus.
It is worth noting that Iran's IRGC launched several missile strikes on January 16, targeting terror organizations and entities that have threatened Iran's security, or taken action against the country. Among the targets were members of the Israeli Mossad and the headquarters from where they launched operations in Iraqi Kurdistan's Erbil Governate.
Iranian news agency Fars reported that the targeted Mossad headquarters in Erbil was camouflaged as a residential villa, located 15 kilometers away from the city and not in a residential area. It is the third fortified headquarters in the region in terms of architectural strength, designed with two layers of cement, and equipped with radars and espionage devices.
Furthermore, the report highlighted that the missile strike resulted in the elimination of four high-ranking Mossad officials.
