PIJ will continue to arm Resistance in West Bank: Ziyad al-Nakhalah
The Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad says that the movement will continue to arm Resistance groups in the West Bank and expand its ties with other factions to confront the Israeli occupation.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) will continue to form armed brigades in the cities of the occupied West Bank and all other Palestinian cities and provide these groups with arms befitting its members' military experience, Ziyad al-Nakhalah the Secretary-General of the movement said on Saturday.
In an interview with Iranian newspaper Al-Wifaq, al-Nakhalah confirmed that the size and capabilities of these brigades will vary from one place to another, depending on the resources and capabilities available to be put into each group.
Al-Nakhalah pointed out that armed brigades and groups have been formed in all Palestinian cities, noting that the PIJ, in particular, has undertaken the responsibility to do so, as he stated that the movement's work does not negate the presence of fighters from Hamas and other organizations in the same cities.
He also indicated that the PIJ has benefited from continued cooperation with members of the Fatah movement who are opposed to the party's negotiated settlement with the Israeli occupation, adding that these members are influential within their areas of presence.
Providing Fatah affiliates with weapons and assistance has allowed the Resistance to expand its operations in the West Bank, al-Nakhalah clarified.
He also underlined the role Iran played in providing the Palestinian Resistance with the expertise to launch rockets, fire mortars, and plant explosive devices to deter Israeli aggression against Palestinians.
Furthermore, the Secretary-General of the PIJ viewed the operation that took place on the Palestinian-Egyptian border as a normal expression of the Egyptian people's feelings, as they believe that "Israel" is an enemy of all Arab and Muslim people, as people view Israeli actions as part of a criminal and murderous regime
The Israeli occupation has increased the intensity of its crimes against the Palestinians in the West Bank, which has pushed Palestinians to retaliate and undertake Fedai operations across the occupied territories.
22 Resistance operations were recorded in the past 24 hours in response to the actions of Israeli forces and settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank.
In total three shootings took place in the West Bank in addition to the targeting of Israeli forces with a Molotov cocktail, as well as a recorded confrontation with settlers who attacked a Palestinian town and 15 instances of stones being thrown towards Israeli forces, according to Palestinian media.
