The commander of the IRGC's Quds Force appeared at the airport alongside several Iranian leaders and officials, awaiting the arrival of the body of the martyred IRGC General Abbas Nilforoushan.
Iranian television broadcast live footage showing the commander of the Quds Force in the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Esmail Qaani, at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran on Tuesday morning.
Qaani appeared at the airport alongside several Iranian leaders and officials, awaiting the arrival of the body of the martyred IRGC General Abbas Nilforoushan, who was martyred during heavy Israeli airstrikes on the Southern Suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut, which also resulted in the martyrdom of Hezbollah's Secretary-General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

In retaliation for these assassinations and other atrocities committed by the Israeli regime in the region, namely its attack on Tehran, Iran launched on October 1 at least 200 ballistic missiles, targeting key military and intelligence sites across the occupied Palestinian territories, in what came to be known as Operation True Promise 2.
The commander's appearance comes after Western, Arab, and Israeli media circulated rumors suggesting he was martyrs or under investigation by Iranian authorities, while Tehran continued to affirm that he was actively performing his duties and would soon be awarded a medal, one of the country's highest honors, by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
Qaani had previously expressed his condolences on the martyrdom of Sayyed Nasrallah, reaffirming that Tehran and the IRGC will remain alongside the Resistance Front until Palestine is liberated and occupied al-Quds is freed.
Israeli assassination of Gen. Nilforoushan 'unforgivable': Iran MoFA
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced that the country would utilize "all capacities" to hold "Israel" accountable for the assassination of senior IRGC general Abbas Nilforoushan.
In a statement released on Monday morning, the Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed condolences to Iranian Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the Iranian nation, and General Nilforoushan's family.
The statement emphasized that the history of crimes committed by "Israel" indicates that appeasing its aggressions and crimes only leads to increased violence and further offenses.
The Ministry described the assassination of this senior Iranian military figure as an illegal act and "an unforgivable crime," asserting that Iran would "undoubtedly use all its capacities to impeach and hold the Zionist regime accountable for committing this crime."
