RFK Jr. team says Trump yet to agree to Libertarian convention debate
RFK Jr. is still waiting for Trump's approval for a debate during the Libertarian convention later this week.
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s press team reported to Sputnik that former US President Donald Trump has yet to respond to a debate between the two candidates at the Libertarian convention this week.
Kennedy challenged Trump earlier this month to a debate at the Libertarian Party’s national convention, which the two plan to attend in Washington from May 24 to 26.
"We have not heard from the Trump campaign regarding our debate invite at the Libertarian Convention," the press team said on Saturday.
On another note, Trump and US President Joe Biden recently agreed to debates on June 27 and September 10. Still, Biden rejected additional NBC News and Fox News debates in the coming months. That said, the Trump campaign proposed calling on Biden to agree to a debate each month leading to the November 5 vote in the US presidential election.
Kennedy said that Trump and Biden were colluding on Wednesday to keep him off the debate stage, later admitting that he does not qualify and hopes he will meet the required criteria before the June 20 deadline to participate in the debate on June 27.
Last month, RFK Jr. stated that Biden poses a bigger threat to American democracy than Trump, due to Biden's tactic of mobilizing federal establishments to oppress and silence his rivals throughout the elections.
In an interview with CNN, Kennedy revealed he was blocked on several social media platforms during Biden's incumbency, a move he regarded as political censorship commanded by Biden and the White House in violation of the First Amendment of the US constitution.
Kennedy emphasized that although Trump played a significant role in igniting the January 6 riots, Biden still posed a greater threat to US democracy.
