Sanaa ready to purge Yemeni institutions of Western spies: Official
A Yemeni official discusses with Al Mayadeen the strategic effects of the latest Yemeni counter-espionage operation.
The achievement announced by the Yemeni security apparatus, in uncovering a large American-Israeli espionage network, is a victory for all the Yemeni people and a result of their steadfastness and ongoing Resistance to the West's wicked plots, a member of the political bureau of Yemen's Ansar Allah movement, Ali al-Qahhoum, told Al Mayadeen.
Describing the recent uncovering of a complex spy network as a "historic achievement," al-Qahhoum said that the operation marks Yemen's leading role, both militarily and in security.
He affirmed that the Yemeni security apparatuses have ushered in a significant transformation in Yemen's stature within the intelligence sector, underscoring their state of heightened vigilance and readiness. This comes as Yemeni intelligence continues to counter espionage networks set up by Western intelligence in Yemen. Moreover, al-Qahhoum said that security forces will continue to monitor those recruited and directly managed operatives by the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
He stressed that the Yemeni authorities delivered hostile forces a clear message which is that they are "ready to thwart the conspiracy and destructive projects," of the West.
On this point, the official explained that this is the first step in a long-term process of purging Yemeni institutions and the government of American and Zionist informants and agents.
Regarding the timing of the complex operation, al-Qahhoum said that this security achievement came at an important and sensitive stage in the history of Yemen, as it coincides with the country's proactive and strategic support to the Palestinian people.

Sanaa uncovers substantial espionage network
Earlier on Monday, the Yemeni Security Forces announced that it uncovered a large espionage network operated by American and Israeli intelligence agencies. Officials revealed that the network had been active within various institutions in Yemen since 2015.
The head of the Security and Intelligence Service, Major General Abdul Hakim Hashem Al-Khaiwani, said in a televised statement, "The exposed network collected important information in various fields and carried out direct espionage technical operations on behalf of the enemy’s intelligence services to obtain confidential, sovereign information."
The security apparatus reported that the network gathered critical information across multiple sectors and relayed it to hostile intelligence services. The agency said that the data collection influenced decision-makers, infiltrated state agencies, and recruited officials within the Yemeni government.
Additionally, the espionage network provided military intelligence to American and Israeli agencies to weaken the Yemeni army and diminish its capabilities, the agency added.
The Yemeni security forces underlined that the network supported the aggression against Yemen by supplying adversaries with military information, thereby hampering Yemen's military development over the past years.
Sanaa said more details about the network and its operations would be disclosed in the coming days.
