Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf revealed Thursday that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, played a decisive role in stabilizing Iran’s armed forces within hours of the Israeli regime’s surprise military assault last month.
In excerpts from a television interview set to air Thursday night, Ghalibaf stated that Sayyed Khamenei entered the command room on two occasions during the confrontation and issued directives directly to newly appointed senior military commanders in the field.
"The Leader was able to pull the armed forces out of the shock within hours of the Israeli aggression," Ghalibaf said.
Response was immediate, decisive
The Iranian official emphasized that the commanders selected during the crisis were capable figures who resembled the generation of martyred commanders and responded immediately on the ground. “Their appointment was made in the very first hours of the aggression,” Ghalibaf added.
He also revealed that just 17 hours after the initial Israeli strike, Iran launched 150 missiles and 350 drones toward the occupied territories, in a proportionate and swift countermeasure.
In an earlier interview with Al Mayadeen, Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri stated that "all evidence, both visible and covert, points to a humiliating defeat for Israel at the hands of Iran." He warned that any renewed aggression would be met with a “strong and painful slap” from both the Iranian people and the country’s military forces.
Iran yet to use full capabilities
Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, advisor to the Iranian leader for military affairs, affirmed on Monday that the Iranian military is fully prepared to counter any plans by its adversaries, warning that "Israel" has not yet seen the full scope of Iran’s military capabilities.
"Our armed forces are ready to confront all enemy plots," Safavi declared, adding that Iran has manufactured thousands of missiles and drones, which are stored in secure, strategically protected locations. He emphasized that these stockpiles are primed for deployment should the need arise.
Safavi pointed out that Iran has so far not activated its entire military apparatus in regional confrontations, stating: "The Zionists are well aware that we have yet to fully engage all our forces, such as the Naval Forces and the Quds Force, on the battlefield."
