Sayyed Nasrallah: No normalization in border demarcation deal
Hezbollah Secretary-General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, says the negotiations on the demarcation file were all indirect and that the Lebanese and Israeli delegations never met under one roof.
Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said that “the border demarcation file experience was very rich and important for both Lebanon and the Resistance,” stressing that it is worthy of being carefully studied.
In a televised speech during the inauguration of a local exhibition, he declared that "all the exceptional and special measures and mobilization carried out by the Resistance for several months” are now over, “having completed the documents related to the file of maritime borders demarcation."
“What has taken place is a great victory for Lebanon as a state, people, and resistance, and the nominal details that accompanied the signing ceremony of the borders demarcation deal are clear proof that any mention of normalization is unfounded and a mere attempt to score points," Sayyed Nasrallah stressed.
He pointed out that "the negotiations on the demarcation file were all indirect, and the Lebanese and Israeli delegations never met under the same roof," adding that the document that Lebanon will keep does not bear an Israeli signature and “the officials in Lebanon made sure not to reflect any insinuation of normalization."
In his speech, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that the deal "is not an international treaty and it is in no way a recognition of Israel, which admits that it has not obtained any security guarantees.”
"Lebanon has achieved an important step that will put forth a new stage," according to Hezbollah Secretary-General.
Earlier today, Deputy Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Elias Bou Saab announced that Lebanese President Michel Aoun had signed Lebanon's receipt and approval of the US letter regarding the demarcation of Lebanon's Southern maritime border.
Lebanese President Michel Aoun also stressed today that the issue of demarcating the maritime borders with "Israel" is technical and does not have any political dimensions.
The US mediator, Amos Hochstein, said in a press conference in Beirut, on Thursday, "Today is a historic day," on account of reaching an agreement that "will provide great opportunities for Lebanon."
Regarding the cholera threat undermining Lebanon, Sayyed Nasrallah declared that "Hezbollah, with all its institutions and cadres, puts itself at the disposal of the Lebanese Ministry of Health."
