In Syria, four soldiers of the Syrian Arab Army were reported to have been killed on Wednesday following an attack by armed militants on a military checkpoint in the village of Umm al-Miyazen, in the eastern countryside of the Daraa governorate according to Al Mayadeen's correspondent.

The terrorists targeted a military checkpoint affiliated with the 15th Division of the Syrian Arab Army, which is positioned approximately 3km north of the Syrian-Jordanian border, in the southeastern countryside of the governorate.

Terrorist attacks on Syrian Arab Army positions by extremist groups such as Jabhat al-Nusra (HTS) and the Turkistan Islamic Party in Syria continue to occur in the de-escalation zone in Idlib.

On January 23rd, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced the dismantling of several explosive devices in the countryside of Daraa, confirming that border guards shot down a drone near the Jordanian border.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency SANA, engineering units of the armed forces in the Daraa countryside successfully dismantled several camouflaged explosive devices shaped like rocks, planted by terrorists. These devices were intended to target pedestrians on the roadside in the towns of Basra al-Harir and al-Mazirib.
