Syrian air defenses intercept Israeli assault on Damascus countryside
An Israeli strike targeted the Damascus countryside, prompting the Syrian air defense forces to repel the attack and successfully intercept some of them.
A Syrian military official stated that at 1:05 a.m. on Saturday, the Israeli occupation launched an aerial assault from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
The military official highlighted that the aggression targeted various locations in the Damascus countryside, specifying that the air defense forces successfully intercepted some of the missiles.
The statement further confirmed that the aggression led to some material damages, with no reported human casualties.
Earlier on Friday, SANA reported that the Syrian air defense systems intercepted Israeli strikes in the vicinity of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Syria confirmed sounds of an explosion in the airspace of the western Damascus countryside.
At dawn on Wednesday, Syria's Defense Minister confirmed that several civilians were killed and some were injured in an Israeli missile attack on Homs province.
"Today at approximately 00:30 [21:30 GMT on Tuesday], the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression from a direction north of Tripoli [in Lebanon], striking several positions in the city of Homs and [Homs] province," the Ministry said in a statement.
'Israel' murders IRGC advisor in Syria
Meanwhile, a military advisor of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) was martyred in an Israeli aggression targeting southern Damascus in the early hours of February 2, Iranian media reported.
Israeli airstrikes were launched from over the occupied Golan Heights against a target south of the capital, according to a Syrian military source, leading to the martyrdom of IRGC advisor to Syria Saeid Ali Dadi.
The source stated that Syrian air defense systems intercepted several Israeli missiles during the aggression.
