Syrian air defenses intercept Israeli aggression on Latakia Port
The new Israeli aggression caused fires and significant material damage.
The Syrian air defenses intercepted an Israeli aggression on the vicinity of Latakia Port, west Syria, at dawn today, Tuesday, Syrian state news agency SANA reported.
"At around 03:21 AM, the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial aggression with several missiles from the direction of the Mediterranean... targeting the container yard in Latakia port," SANA cited a military source as saying.
The strike caused "significant material damage" and led to fires, the agency added.
According to the source, firefighting teams are still working to put out the fires and investigate what the aggression has caused.

Al Mayadeen’s reporter said that ambulances and civil defense teams rushed to the targeted area in the yard that contains a large number of containers that caught fire. Our reporter also confirmed that the windows of a large number of houses and a private hospital on the western corniche adjacent to the Port were damaged as a result of the explosions, and security forces cordoned off the area to avoid any accidents.

This is the second time in one month that the Syrian air defenses have intercepted an Israeli aggression on the city of Latakia. On December 7, a similar attack on the city’s port was intercepted.
As part of Al Mayadeen's 2021 Roundup coverage, Al Mayadeen interviewed Syria's Deputy Foreign Minister Bashar Al-Jaafari who said all of Syria's enemies become hysterical whenever Syria nears a certain victory, seeing that his country "achieved a great victory, but the war is not yet over."

It is noteworthy that Syria has repeatedly called on the UN Security Council and the United Nations to condemn the repetitive Israeli aggressions against it, demanding firm measures to prevent their recurrence.
