Tehran is reviewing a proposal for a temporary nuclear deal
Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Vahid Jalalzadeh says that a temporary deal does not jeopardize the strategic push to lift the sanctions and preserve the country’s national interests.
Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Vahid Jalalzadeh, said that Tehran is reviewing proposals made by the 4+1 for a temporary deal during the Vienna talks.
“Proposals made by the 4+1 for temporary agreement are not Iran's ideal; however, they are under review”, Jalalzadeh added.
The top Iranian diplomat went on to say that “the proposals are neither accepted nor rejected”.
“Iran is after a permanent agreement which safeguards Islamic Republic's interests; however, we must acknowledge that the temporary deal does not jeopardize the strategic push to lift the sanctions and preserve national interests,” he stressed.
Jalalzadeh added that “the West has been disloyal to its commitments, so it should take effective steps towards compensating for the lost confidence.”
"The West is aware of Iran's capabilities and is concerned about the negotiations' length and its slow pace, which is why I proposed a temporary deal which will be followed by a permanent agreement," he concluded.
Russia: The atmosphere is positive
On his account, the Russian chief negotiator to the Vienna negotiations, Mikhail Ulyanov, has recently said that the Vienna talks are moving forward.
"I would say that the atmosphere at the Vienna Talks is positive and businesslike. Judging by my contacts with other counterparts, they share this assessment," he tweeted.

China: Vienna talks moving onward
Chief Chinese delegate Wang Qun said, following the negotiation session last Thursday, that the talks were moving onward.
As the eighth round of the Vienna talks between Iran and the P4+1 over Tehran's nuclear program proceeds in the Austrian capital, reports suggest that the delegations have neared reaching a final agreement.
The Vienna talks between major powers and Iran aim to revive the 2015 nuclear agreement and return the United States to it following Washington's unilateral withdrawal in 2018 under then-President Donald Trump, who accompanied his decision with the imposition of harsh sanctions on Tehran.
